We are a competitive swimmer and diving club - with our swimmers competing at all levels from local team galas.
The "Polo Bears", as our club is affectionately known, was formed in 1996, when the Pine Rivers, Kallangur, and Newmarket Clubs joined to form the North Brisbane Water Polo Club, at the then newly opened Albany Creek Leisure Centre. As the club has grown, we now also train at the Craigslea State High School.
Our incorporated not for profit club, is run wholly for the benefit of our members, where we strive to provide a supportive and enjoyable environment to help our players reach their absolute best. The Polo Bears community has for many years been developing players to reach their goals, with a number of State Representatives and Olympians calling the Polo Bears home, and you will see some of these wonderful people poolside training our enthusiastic players.
The club boasts some truly amazing coaches, and their passion for the sport and developing our players is truly infectious. Our coaches are focussed on developing our players and teams over each and every season, assisting them to reach their goals, both individually and as a team, creating an environment where players truly do make friends for life.
We offer development pathways for our teams and players to perform at State, National and Premier League levels. We provide a pathway for our players from U16 to develop through to U18 development, U18A and into Premier League and beyond. We also encourage and offer development pathways for our senior players to further get involved in waterpolo through refereeing and coaching, and our younger players really love the involvement of the seniors in their development.
Our performance as a club is going from strength to strength, and in the 2021/2022 season, not only did we have a great time, but over half of the teams reached the finals rounds. We are very proud also of our performance in both the Qld State Titles and The Australian Youth Titles where our representative teams achieved some excellent results, including Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for some of our teams. 2022 was also a year where we celebrated a second Gold medal for our Premier League womens team, winning their second Gold, and our mens winning a Bronze medal - a fantastic result!
But most important of all, at the Polo Bears, we absolutely love seeing players enjoying their sport, and there is no better sport than waterpolo - but maybe we are a bit biassed!
